Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD)

Note: This is a Article that was re-written from the web, for my content writing job. It's note-worthy to post this as a article over my blog, for it can create self-awareness of a disorder that has no symptoms, operation or scientific treatment.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD) a condition that affects children and adults is an attention deficit disorder. As a genetically inherited mental disorder, the condition is diagnosed during early school years, and when not treated then can continue into teens and adulthood. ADD symptoms manifest in each child or adult differently, specific to their physical and social condition, when it interferes in victim’s ability to function sanely at school, work or home. While Children with this disorder have problems in paying attention or concentration, the adults are characterized with difficulty with time management, organizational skills and goal setting. They have also proven to have personal issues relating to relationships, self-esteem, and drug addictions.

Causes of Attention-deficit Disorder:
While Researchers are still study the brain for appropriate reasons, heredity, chemical imbalance, brain developmental changes and head injury are often reported as primary reasons to cause the Attention-deficit Disorder. Additionally Poor nutrition, infections, and substance abuse (including cigarette and alcohol use) during pregnancy may be other factors contributing to the disorder.
Symptoms in Children:
Impulsive:
The child having difficulty waiting for his turn, interrupts to do an action without thinking ahead of the consequences.
Hyperactivity: With no patience to behave with mannerisms the Child relentlessly squirms and fidgets. Has problems playing quietly and talks excessively
Inattention: Easily distracted with imaginations the child finds it a challenge to follow directions or staying focused. Being forgetful about daily activities the lad often has problems in organizing tasks.

Symptoms in Adults:
Though dissimilar the behavioral symptoms in adults include low self esteem, anxiety, forgetfulness, impulsiveness, procrastination, mood swings, and depression. Employment and relationship problems are also evident among adults with HDAD.

Treatment for ADD:
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder cannot be Cured but certain stimulant medications can help control the disruptive symptoms of impulsiveness and hyperactivity. Certain anti-depressants also have proved to increase the attention span of the patient. These days the therapists deploy psychological behavioral adjustments, to better motivate and treat the disorder. Behavior modification specifically encourages the patient to harvest the good deeds and discourages any problem thought/action thus gradually diminishing unpleasant repulsive symptoms. Counseling, special education, social skills training and group workshops also influences the victim’s mind to better manage frustrations/emotions thus improving their self esteem and morale positively. Studies also suggest that Omega-3 supplements are also proven to be successful in treating this type of mental disorder.
It’s critical that Children with ADHD should seek professional help. If Left untreated, these illnesses can hold children hostage for life, for low-self esteem will interfere drastically in school, employment or relationship. Medically structured diagnosis and treatments, will help the child minimize his disorderly behavior and develop his core strengths, so for him to become a positive, productive, health citizen.

Good samaritans from Chennai

“Two men are following me” I could see them slow down so to catch pace with the black swift, and get a glimpse of its driver. I did casually notice the rider of the bike watching me at the traffic jam near Ahok pillar. Paying no heed, I choose to purposely disregard the bikers and be immersed in my ocean of thoughts. Thoughts which trenched through the oceans of life, relationships, love, loneliness, hope and God, paused along with the brakes at sight of red signals only to see the bikers to my right, keenly looking at me. I should have been petrified, should have steered faster but wearily I scorned the idiocy of the bikers to trail after someone like me. Turning away and looking forward, i accelerated the car at 25km/hr, slowly to near my house. Thought the bikers should have detoured near Thirumangalam jjcomplex , obviously silly pleasures don’t last long. But, only when I parked the car at home did I know that i was being chased all over. The strangers, who were just talking glimpses, were now in home gates wanting to talk to me. What could a stranger have to talk with a girl of my age? Does he not realize the shamefulness of his deed to come behind me? From inside my house gates, I furiously looked to see the guys take away their helmets,

“Please don’t mistake me. I have a sister who looks like you and I was concerned about you” the words of the biker came out with social concern. “Please tell me what is your problem in life, whatever it is we will ensure to do whatever best that is possible of us” words continued with a want to do something. I kind of comprehended the situation and figured out the reason for the biker’s chase “we saw you weeping so deeply and we were scared that you may commit any unforeseen attempts, please tell us your problem. Are you parents in your house, may be we can offer our help to them” the words came one after another, just wanting to support the unknown cause. Rewinding the incident, the bikers who initially glimpsed at my ethic saree wear soon watched my eyes emote it’s thoughts of life and hopelessness. They saw the tears turning to cry and the cries turning to moans and the moans that turned back to silence. Little did they know that explicit emote was deep rooted from the recent years and no help or support but from Christ can console me from it.

I thanked the bikers for the genuine goodness and requested them to leave. Refusing to acknowledge any problem, I walked away from them so to lock myself in. It should have been embarrassing for those decent men, especially when all they intended to do was help. Regretting their goodness they left my residence. I don’t know their names. Nor about their whereabouts. But to show unadulterated goodness to a stranger they should have been souls with superior humaneness. Reminds me of the Good Samaritan parable in Luke Chap11, may be I should term them that way. May God bless those bikers!!
